Pokémon Champions Stat Points, explained

Pokémon Champions throws out EVs and IVs and replaces them with Stat Points. If you have come from VGC or Showdown, this is the one rule you have to relearn before any damage number makes sense.

The rules

Converting a 252-EV spread

A maxed 252-EV stat at Level 50 adds +31 to +32 to the stat, which is what 32 Stat Points now does. So the translation is simply SP = round(EV × 32 / 252): 252 EVs becomes 32 SP, 4 EVs becomes 1 SP (or rounds away), and the old 508-EV budget becomes the 66-point one. A classic 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP spread lands on 32 Atk / 32 Spe / 1 HP — 65 of your 66 points.

The calculator does this for you: paste a team in the old format and it detects the 252 scale, normalises it, and enforces the 66-point budget.

What it changes about team building

Two maxed stats is the ceiling, so the familiar "max attack, max speed, dump the rest" spread now costs your entire budget rather than most of it. Bulk has to be bought with points you were spending elsewhere, which is why damage calculations in Champions swing more on investment than they did under EVs — and why guessing an opponent's spread is a worse idea than bracketing it.

Champions-exclusive Mega Evolutions

Champions also brought back Mega Evolution with a roster of its own — Staraptor, Scovillain, Glimmora, Baxcalibur, Pyroar, Eelektross, Raichu X and Y, and the rest of the Reg M-A / M-B list — alongside the classic Kalos-era Megas. Holding the stone Mega-Evolves the Pokémon with its real forme stats, typing and ability. The full stat table is on the calculator's about section.

Stat Points are implemented directly rather than approximated: the calculator reads a spread on the 0–32 scale, pins IVs perfect and the level to 50, and drives @smogon/calc so 32 SP produces exactly the same stat as a maxed 252-EV build would have.
